“Got five minutes? Let’s write. Let’s finger paint with words. Let’s just write and not worry if it’s just right or not.”
On Distance..
GO
Distance is a funny word. Distance between me and you? Physical and emotional and mental and spiritual…Maybe we are miles apart, and yet no so distant, huh?
So funny that this is the prompt today. Today we celebrate a traveler come to our home. My face lights with joy to watch my dear husband hang on his father’s words. His father who traveled so many hours and so many miles to spend time with us, to do life with us, for just a short time.
It’s such a wonderful gift when someone goes the distance. When they pack bags and climb in cars and and guzzle gas and caffeine just to be here. When they cuddle up close with snuggly kids who excitedly, endlessly chatter away. When they roll out of bed early just to ride to school…they go the distance…not for a special event, not to celebrate the big momentous milestones, but to experience the little everyday ones.
Thanks Grandpa Mikey for going the distance for us. We have been truly blessed by your presence!
STOP
I’m playing along with 5-minute Friday over at http://www.thegypsymama.com- you should join us!
That’s so cool! It is so true that life in the everyday shared is sometimes the sweetest! My parents live hours away as well. Enjoy your time.
This is a REALLY great five minute post. I love your beginning: “Maybe we are miles apart, and yet no so distant, huh?” and this beautiful, poignant tribute. Lovely!
